Introducing my TMNT OC/precious child Vernica!


Superfast Backstory:

Originally a young Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma Asio), she was the pet of my travelling herpetologist/avid myth-buster OC Alisha (ref yet to come!). Alisha was with her botanist/archaeologist partner Dylan in the Guatemalan Rainforests investigating the rumours of an enormous snake, when an accident shattered Vern's terrarium, and she was lost in the undergrowth. 

Without going into too much detail about my TMNT AU, the Kraang are only based in NYC, but have portals and facilities all over the world - one hidden in the jungles of Guatemala. Either way, the terrified lizard sprinted through a puddle of KraangTech byproduct (mutagen) and her lizard DNA fused with Alisha's, resulting in a screaming, approximately four year-old Vern. 

Her bawling attracted the attention of a much, much older mutant - Mahaway, an enormous Coral SnakexHuman, who sheltered Vern for much of her life, and fostered her into the brat person she is today c:

A heck-tonne of my AU depends on my Queen character Mahaway's backstory, which I'll try to get onto later. I'm actually desperate to write a comic about my characters and their lives in the jungle, but life's just so hectic right now that it's almost impossible. Maybe towards the end of the year?

Anyway, back to business. 

Personality

Vern's nothing if not stubborn - she's vivacious, tenacious, loyal to a fault, and her favourite question is "Why?"
She has a love for heights, a superiority complex, and is relatively narcissistic. She's also incredibly impatient and has a quick temper, a trait which irks Mahaway to no end. She holds on to grudges, and can never seem to shake guilt off her shoulders.
Vern has no aversion to killing, within reason. She lives in the jungle; to her, death means life. She takes no pleasure in the suffering of others, although if you hurt someone close to her heart, she'll do her best to kill you slowly. 

Skill Set

Being raised in the Guatemalan Jungles by an ancient shaman-snake, Vern doesn't actually have any martial arts training. She has no experience with warfare, aside from the occasional gunfights in the forests between opposing drug cartels. That said, she is excellent with snares and very handy with a sling (not the Y-shaped stick that throws rocks a short way, that's a slingshot - I'm talking about the long piece of leather/rope that pelts rocks for hundreds of feet/meters at potentially lethal speeds) and has some skill with archery. She's also a skilled healer, but that can be twisted into something much more...poisonous. Ahh, the joys of the jungle. 

Vern's adept at foraging, hunting and preparing food, and is nifty with a knife. She's teaching herself to throw them, too, but that's a work in progress (and it definitely needs work!) 

Lastly, she's developed the ability to scale almost anything, climbing trees and rocks and walls whenever she can, and can do so quietly - you have to, to be able to hunt in a place full of leaves and twigs and other noisy things. She's very good at evading detection. 

Other

- She goes into heat around every 6 months, and gets her period about 3 weeks after, which is an incredibly painful process for her due to the fusion of mammalian and reptilian reproductive organs. I'd recommend running away from her during these times - she's vicious. PMS to the max.

- She speaks 3 languages; Ch'orti (Local Mayan tongue), Spanish, and English. 

- She really likes shiny things, collecting them up and storing them in tree-trunk caches. 

- She has a complicated bond with Mahaway - it's hardly what you'd call "Mother-Daughter", but more like "frenemies"

- She's 100% hairless - no eyelashes, eyebrows, hair, etc. 

- She does have like AAA boobs, but that's because Alisha had a bodacious bosom and some of those genes fused with Vern's. They're teeny tits, though. 

- She's possibly the biggest shit to draw, ever. Why did I make her face so complicated??

- EDIT: She only has THREE facial spines (instead of four) coming from her cheeks/jaws.

- CONTAINS VAGUELY NSFW INFO: No obvious genitalia, externally it's all very lizard-like. She has a small slit between her legs though, which houses the female genitalia you'd expect. And if that wasn't TMI, well, her faecal sphincter is not housed there, but slightly further back. There you go. 

NO, you may NOT use Vernica for role-play, or use her as your own, repost images of her, copy her design. NO EXCEPTIONS.
